Termination of CiNii Institutional Fixed-Price Service and Use of Institutional authentication [updated April 5, 2017, JST]

We would like to inform you about Termination of CiNii Institutional Fixed-Price Service and Use of Institutional authentication
New application is not required if you continue to use Institutional authentication from CiNii Institutional Fixed-Price Service.
Please take the procedure by Wednesday, March 22, 2017 if you don’t need to use Institutional authentication service.
We look forward to having you as an institutional user in the next fiscal year.

1. Notice of termination of CiNii Institutional Fixed-Price Service

Ⅰ. Termination of CiNii Institutional Fixed-Price Service

 CiNii has decided to renovate as a service that focus on offering Open Access and supporting discovery of academic information due to NII-ELS (National Institute of Informatics Electronic Library Service) end. Therefore, CiNii will terminate Institutional Fixed-Price Service and Site License Individual ID. The details are as follows.

  • CiNii Full Text Journal Directory
• Continuing Service
  • Search and link for academic information of articles by CiNii Articles
  • Search for book and journal information from holding libraries by CiNii Books
  • Search for information of doctoral dissertations in Japan by CiNii Dissertations
  • Customization features by Institutional authentication (OPAC / Link resolver, priority display of holding library information)

 *Personal information on CiNii individual ID and CiNii Site License Individual ID is handled properly based on Academic Content Service Usage Regulations *Japanese only , Article 8 you have agreed.

 *Contents which aren’t certainly migrated are displayed in a certain form prepared by NII in the future.

  • Available for everyone after March 27 regardless of presence of Institutional authentication.

2. Guidance for use of Institutional authentication

Ⅰ. About Institutional authentication

 Institutional authentication service will be started from next fiscal year (April 2017) after CiNii Institutional Fixed-Price Service end. Institutional authentication provides service the following services. Institutional authentication service is free of charge.

• Keeping your present registration information
  It’s not necessary to register anew your institutional name, contact person and IP address etc. unless you take the termination procedure during period indicated in II-1.
• CiNii Articles
  • Continuation use of usage statistics
    Usage Report (based on COUNTER, etc.) data before FY2016 is available from the Administrator login page.
  • Setting･Display of Institution OPAC/Link resolvers
    It’s possible to set Icons of Institution OPAC or Link resolver on Search Results page and “Search the Article” of Article Details page.
• CiNii Books
• Priority display in a holding institution/library
  Your institution information is preferentially displayed in the list of holding institution/libraries.
  *Initial setting is order of Japanese syllabary
  It’s valid except the case where you have taken the termination procedure.



Next service of Institutional Fixed-Price Service will be stopped providing after shifting to Institutional authentication service.

• CiNii Articles
  • Usage inquiry
    ”ELS Institutional Fixed-Price usage license contents display” and ” Number of Site License Individual IDs” of Usage inquiry will be extinct by the end of NII-ELS and Site License Individual ID, so “CiNii Search” and “CiNii detailed display” will be integrated into Usage Report (based on COUNTER, etc.) from the next fiscal year. Please make sure to preserve your past data by March 26, because you can’t access Usage inquiry page after March 27, 2017.

Ⅱ. About use procedure of Institutional authentication

 New application is not required if you continue to use Institutional authentication from CiNii Institutional Fixed-Price Service.
 Please take the procedure if you don’t need to use Institutional authentication service.

   Application is accepted from the following e-mail.
   *Attention: “Usage termination application” on the administrative procedures page isn’t working. Please don’t apply from this button.

   Subject: [Administrator ID (ex.SLM00000) ] Termination application for CiNii Institutional Fixed-Price Service
   Contents:
   ①Administrator ID
    ・Administrator ID is not the same as CiNii Individual ID
    ・Your administrator ID is stated in the notification that has been sent to the contact person when the contract started.
   ②Contact person’s name
   ③Contact person’s e-mail address
   

Ⅲ. About function enhancement of CiNii on the fiscal year 2016

 We will inform you again about the upgraded features of CiNii on the fiscal year 2016.

1. Release of Full Text Search function for CiNii Dissertations

   Based on user feedbacks we have received, we have added new function which enables a user to search contents of full text (PDF). Targeting dissertations of the full text search are text (PDF) in Institutional Repository of each University.

2. CiNii Books has started data linkages with "Comprehensive Database of Archaeological Site Reports in Japan", "HathiTrust Digital Library" and "National Diet Library Digital Collections."
   

   The details page of CiNii Books has been added the link to "Comprehensive Database of Archaeological Site Reports in Japan", "HathiTrust Digital Library" and "National Diet Library Digital Collections." This link is now available directly access to full text which has been digitized and released.
