KAKEN – What is ‘Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (KAKENHI) Database’?

Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (KAKENHI) Database is a database that archives the information on Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research projects granted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). It includes: the initial information at the time of adoption (Adopted Projects); summaries of research outputs (Research-status Report, Annual Research Report, and Final Research Report Summary); Final Research Report; and Self-evaluation Report.

As Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research is widely granted across all the academic disciplines, this database allows you to search for the latest information on research conducted in Japan in all disciplines.

For details of Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research, please refer to the following websites:

MEXT’s website: 科学研究費助成事業-科研費- (Japanese)

JSPS’s website: Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research

* Note

Due to the differences in the record coverage and changes made to a project within a fiscal year (e.g. declined after a tentative offer) etc, a project does not necessarily have all of the three data sources (i.e. Adopted Project; Research-status / Annual Research Report; and Final Research Report Summary or Final Research Report).
