About the Service
KAKEN is operated based on the “National Institute of Informatics’ Academic Contents Service Usage Regulations”.
How to Use the Contents
(1) The use of the content published by KAKEN conforms to the “MEXT’s Website Terms of Use” (Japanese), except for the content whose copyright belongs to authors (e.g. some of the reports). The “MEXT’s Website Terms of Use” is compatible with the Creative Commons License Attribution 4.0 International (i.e. the copyright usage terms stipulated in https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode. Hereinafter referred to as ‘CC-BY’.); therefore, the content to which this usage rule applies can also be used by complying with CC BY.
(2) Out of the contents published on KAKEN, those parts that are clearly specified as copyrighted works (i.e. part of reports submitted in relation to Adopted Projects before 2015) must be used in compliance with Article 5.2 (Copyright of academic information, etc.) of the “NII’s Academic Contents Service Usage Regulations”.
(3) When using the content, please cite the source by referring to the citation examples described in the ‘MEXT Website Usage Policy’.

Information published on KAKEN
In some cases, the author may be able to claim the copyright of the reports submitted in relation to an Adopted Project by request. If you wish to apply, please complete the form below.
Restrictions on Published Information
The KAKEN database publishes the data of Adopted Projects and Granted Projects, and reports (Annual Research Report, Research-status Report, and Final Research Report) provided by the grant sources: the MEXT and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.
"KAKEN - Search Research Projects" publishes the provided data as it is in each fiscal year's grant/report page; however, it displays the mechanically-integrated information of each fiscal year in the summary page of each project.
“KAKEN - Search Researcher” is generated by mechanically integrating the information of researchers and research products using Researcher Numbers and DOIs, etc. extracted from the information published on “KAKEN - Search Research Projects” as well as part of the information included in “Institutional Repositories DataBase (IRDB)”, “CiNii Articles”, “researchmap” and “JaLC DOI”.
The research products information integrated here is also used for displaying research products information on the summary page of "KAKEN - Search Research Projects".
Since incorrect information may be entered in the above databases, the information displayed as search results on “KAKEN - Search Researcher” may also contain errors.
